OPEN Street Maps ?
Today I started my car and my screen showed "Purchase OSMAnd Pro or Maps+ to use OSMAnd with Android Auto". And you know, as much as I despise Android Auto, this got me enraged. Don't give something for free if you will take it away as a paid service later. To me OSMAnd is a usefull app, but Google Maps or Waze are way superior for Car Navigation. Am I giving them my data? Yes. But GMaps at least has a nice easy to use interface, you can find places that people add (which to me is kind of 'open') and Navigation doesn't get you to non-existing roads as much as OSM does.
And maybe this is reason enough to buy or donate? so they can improve the app? I guess, I'm still thinking about it, but I'd rather have it as an offline app, which is what I use OSM for anyway. While driving, I only like how OSM looks on the screen of my car...
I usually don't use OSM for car navigation as it gets me lost most of the time, but for biking or hiking is great.
So this is not a reason to pay, but supporting the app's development might be. Anyway, Maps+ would be the way to go for sure, since there is no way I'm paying monthly for seeing a map.
AT LEAST LET ME SEE THE MAP AS A FREE RIDE FOR FREE 🙄
